Pay It Forward 2012
 Re-posted from DucanDog
"I promise to make something homemade/handmade for the first 5 people who comment on my post. You must then re-post this on your status (EDIT: Mindsay blog) and make something for the first 5 people who comment on your status. The rules are it HAS to be handmade by YOU and they must receive it before 2012 ends. It can be as simple as making a friend a cup of coffee ... Who's in?"

Robert Cormier - Mind Fucker
Jerry wouldn't sell the chocolates:

I just watched a movie on netflix called Tenderness. It was very unusual. At the end I watched the credits and there it was: Based on the book by Robert Cormier.

Here's the trailer so you can get a feel for it:

I've read a few of the late Mr. Cormier's books...The Chocolate War (my non-reading, yet genius ex-boyfriend read it too), The Bumblebee Flies Anyway, Eight Plus One. Cormier's books explore not only areas that may seem grey and foreboding to a young adult or teenager...but are actually dark and sinister to adults. They are an almost surrealistic slap in the face with reality.

I have not read Tenderness yet, although I did read the absolutely too darn thorough description of the book on wikipedia. It seems like it would be much more chilling than the movie. Life is indeed stranger than fiction though, and weirder occurrences than the plot-lines in these books happen every day. Besides not being the tough chickie I used to be (I've grown a heart or a wizard gave me one, something happened to make me a bit of a sissy in my old age), I eerily relate to the character Lori's extreme sense of hopelessness. I am on the fence about plumbing the depths of humanity (again) with the writings of Mr. Cormier but in this one case, I may try it.

(This is about the level of self-debate I put myself through before reading The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule, which I actually set on fire, put it out, took it to my apt. complex dumpster, went back inside, waited awhile and then freaked myself out even more by going back out to the dumpster, after dark, with no one home, to retrieve the book and finally finish reading it. Ugh. It's hard to be me.)

stuck up somewhere
between you & the truth
bottleneck blooz

singing the bottleneck blooz
stuck here singing inside
